Antique Hand Painted Chinese Japanese Fan Applied Detail, Lacquered Wood A/F #F1

Antique Hand Painted Chinese Japanese Fan Applied Detail, Lacquered Wood A/F #F1

Antique Hand Painted Chinese Japanese Fan Applied Detail, Lacquered Wood A/F #F1
Antique Hand Painted Chinese Japanese Fan Applied Detail, Lacquered Wood A/F #F1. Here is an antique hand fan from either China or Japan. It is made from a fine wood or maybe bamboo that has a black lacquer covering with gilt paintwork scenes of people a small building and willow tree. The top of the fan is paper that has. Scenes both sides showing lots of people within buildings and green scenery. The people have applied fabric for the clothes and applied pre-made faces, all with hand painted details on period wafer material. There is hand painted colourful decoration around the edges. No maker’s marks that I can see. It is in collectable but only fair condition with obvious signs of age and use wear. Unfortunately a couple of the wooden sticks / panels have come away from the paper where the paper has also been torn in that area. The covers to the fan are good. No fading to the paintwork etc. There has been some restoration to the painted paper area but it still has splits, tears, worn patches on it and is still very fragile. 11 inches long and approx. 19 and 1/2 inches wide when opened out fully. Items are shown next to an English 1 penny which is 20mm (11/16th of an inch) diameter for scale. Once an item is the in the postal system any delays are out of my cont rol. See the date it was sent.
