This is an antique Japanese Meiji Era c. 1895 imari ceramic plate shaped as a fish and all hand painted. This pattern and painting style was produced at the Fukugawa kilns and these designs were created by Chuji Fukugawa, per “Japanese Porcelain” by Schiffer 1986. The plate is made with high fired ceramics for lasting durability. Please enjoy the closeup photos to admire the finely painted details in deep orange, cobalt blue and bright gold.
