Japanese Original Black Red Ink Drawing Circa 1800 Urashima Taro Fairy Tale. Japanese Original Black and Red Ink Drawing Circa 1800 Urashima Taro Fairy Tale. Japanese Original Black and Red Ink Drawing Circa 1800 and is a depiction of the Urashima Taro Fairy Tale. I believe that this is a depiction of The Urashima Taro tale, because it features a man sitting on a turtle which is not a common image. This story dates at least to the 8th century and is featured in several literary sources. Urashima Taro is the protagonist of a Japanese fairy tale (otogi banashi), who in a typical modern version is a fisherman rewarded for rescuing a turtle, and carried on its back to the Dragon Palace (Ryugu-jo) beneath the sea. There he is entertained by the princess Otohime[a] as a reward. The thin rice paper has been pasted to another thicker paper. Small loss in corner. Measurements: 32 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches. All items for sale are vintage or antique and it may show evidence of wear. Please see condition report and photos. I try to describe the items to the best of my ability. All listings are described as to the best of my knowledge, through careful research and price and description comparison. We welcome all reasonable offers! We appreciate your business! Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this l. Ovely set of original Qing dynasty hard wood carved barn find oriental Throne chairs with original ebonsied distressed patina. These chairs are very rare, original circa 1880, the distressing to the paintwork is exquisite, you couldn’t make it up, we have professionally restored these to include a deep clean which was two days work for two employees, the paint has been stabilised with any loose flaking rubbed off, the chairs have then been waxed and polished sealing the remaining finish from any further losses, the end result is sublime. The chairs have the original metal hand hammered strap work to the corners, native scenes carved into the back splats, there is one loss to one corner that I can see, otherwise they are all present and correct. These are a genuine barn find, they were in the same place for around 60 years totally untouched and luckily dry. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask.
