The gold trim on the rim and handles show wear due to age, but there is a small hairline crack located near in one of the handles and one handle has been broken and repaired. An earthenware vase, of small baluster form. By the Sh’un studio. 1868 – 1912, late 19th century. The body depicting a small flock of Cockerel, feeding amongst a group of wild flowers. The top collar of the vase with a millefleurs (thousand flower) decoration and geometric border patterning. The work applied using a multitude of coloured enamels, then intricately detailed in gold. Signed “Kyoto, Sh’un” in an painted seal to the underside of the base. Excellent Condition, without any damage. 9.5cm in height.
