A female poet from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji period. She was adopted by????? Otagaki Teruhisa, samurai who served at Chion-in Temple, when she was only 10 days old. Mochihisa, the adopted son of Teruhisa. She and Mochihisa had three children, all of whom died at an early age. She also lost her husband, Mochihisa soon. At the age of 33, she lost her second husband, ?? She and Hisatoshi had one daughter, but the daughter and Mochiko died in 1823. She shaved her head and took the name “Rengetsuni / Nun Rengetsu”. The details are impeccably done and add beautiful pops of color to this piece. When hanging the background color really brightens up the room. Japanese Chinese 4 Panel Folding Screen Byobu Painted 72×36 koi Fish Vintage. Beautiful hand painted screen. The painting is simple and elegant. The colors really capture the light beautifully. The details are impeccably done and add beautiful pops of color to this piece. When hanging the background color really brightens up the room. The detailing adds a great relaxing look that is not too overwhelming and can easily blend in with other decor and colors. One of the panels is loose and is held on by a few pieces of the paper. There is some spotting from age which is to be expected. Please see all photos for details and feel free to ask any questions.
