Vivid, beautiful hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration throughout – repeating vertical bands, with blooming Chrysanthemum flower motifs in the celled Cartouches. Gilt trim and accents. Domed top lids, with Onion Bud finials. Both signed on the undersides in red, by hand, with the same Japanese Kanji character. Antique, Japanese in origin from the Meiji period – late 19th/early 20th century. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS! 17.5″ tall with lids, 8″ diameter (across) each. Weigh about 10 lbs. Perhaps most stunning of these bookmark-sized paintings is the gradient of shading, which takes an exceptional level of difficulty to create. Both pieces are behind antique glass and back matted on black and white paper. The white paper features light brown speckling to enhance the texture. The frame is a pencil-thin black matte wood and is ready to hang. These prints are in EXCELLENT condition. The frames have light to moderate surface wear, bot both are ready to hang and display.
