Japanese Shinto Wall Scrollthree Deities/symbols &costumesedo Period 1603-1868
Offered for sale is this old Shinto hanging scroll, depicting three religious gods or spirits, with their costumes and several religious symbols. Two of the spirits appear female, one male, all in fantastic costume. Shinto has been a large part of the history and culture of Japan for at least 15 centuries, with its roots likely going back much further. Symbols include what resembles a Buddhist Wheel of Law and other items. Measures about 43 inches wide by 45 inches tall (110 by 115 cm). Condition issues: This scroll shows signs of aging, and is ragged, faded, stained, worn, and creased, with losses of material. Would look exceptional if nicely framed so as to show only the more intact central painted panel. This could be done with the scroll kept intact while its ends are rolled up behind or within a box frame, or just using the painted panel and margin (though it may be best to consult an expert on this). This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Paintings & Scrolls”. The seller is “n-orbit” and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped worldwide.
