TOSHIJIRO NENJIRO INAGAKI (1902-1963) Japanese Woodblock TIGERS CATS 18X16.75
18 Inch or 46cm Tall. 16.75 Inch or 42.5cm Wide. Woodblocks by Toshijiro (Nenjiro) Inagaki – Interesting modern design printed from a single woodblock using multicolor inks in a variety of tones. Toshijiro (or Nenjiro) Inagaki was an acclaimed kimono designer who was designated an Intangible Cultural Property in 1962, the highest honor awarded to Japanese artists by the government. In the 1950s – 1960s, he designed a small group of woodblock prints published by Mikumo in Kyoto. These stylized designs reflect the stencil-dyed techniques he used to create textiles, featuring geometric shapes and unusual gradations of color. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has several prints by Inagaki in its collection. Artist – Toshijiro (Nenjiro) Inagaki (1902 – 1963). Antique Japanese Showa Era Signed Framed Painting Of Two Tigers With Bamboo
This is an antique Japanese signed painting of a pair of tigers in a bamboo grove. It is signed by the well known Japanese artist Gyokuhou Horie (born in 1917) known to be an expert tiger painter. The painting is matted in silk. The tiger is one of the 12 Japanese zodiac animals. This painting is 35 1/2″ wide by 11 1/2″ tall (89 x 29 cm), having been carefully stored for nearly 100 years, it remains in very good condition. The is frame made of Zelkova wood (keyaki) with radius corners measuring approximately 49″ wide by 17 1/4″ tall (123 x 43.5 cm). Ll love it, I guarantee it.
