This is a huge stunningly rare antique late 18th century Edo period Japanese scroll painting. It is beautifully painted by hand with nice rich color and an abundance of stylized Asian detailing. It has several different figural scenes creating a lovely composition. It is an extremely large scroll and has modernly been professionally framed and matted. The frame measures 63 inches by 30 1/2 inches. The scroll alone measures 48 1/4 inches by 22 1/4 inches. The painting is several hundreds of years old and has ware to it but displays very nicely and shows its age and use. It was once rolled up so it has some pieces missing as shown.
