This is an early Showa c. 1930’s antique Japanese signed scroll with a hand painted images of Buddha on silk. The images are paintings of the 7th century Shaka Sanzon Buddhist statues at Horuyji temple made in the year 623. It is signed by the Japanese artist, Oji or Ako (see picture 5). This scroll is approximately 66″ long by 21 1/4″ wide (168 x 54 cm). The actual artwork is 38″ high by 15 1/2″ wide (96 x 39 cm). Having been rolled up and stored for over 90 years, it remains in very good condition. Ll love it, I guarantee it.
