-The Japanese Hanging Scroll- and how to enjoy them? KAKEJIKU is traditionally displayed in TOKONOMA(an alcove in traditional Japanese room). They maily display for their guests and for carrying out the seasonal events. So why don’t you have a few and try changing them depends on the guests, seasons and even for your feelings! Modern Japanese houses even don’t have a TOKONOMA, so less and less people are displaying them these days. It is a shame that people forget about KAKEJIKU. However it is more important to actually display, respect and enjoy in your own ways rather than following all the traditional ways. You can enjoy freely and display in just like any ways!! This is a cheaper method than EMS and a faster method than SAL. But I don’t recommend SAL. When you request SAL, please contact me. Doing that is against U.

Century Meiji Japanese Satsuma oval porcelain button pin featuring a hand-painted-in- miniature copper, green and gold dragon. It is rare to find against a black background rather than the more usual ivory colour. The detail on this petite button is incredible: even the background is filled with tiny, gold dots, although it is quite hard to work out which is the right way up! The button is signed on the white metal reverse and fastens with a tube hinge and traditional C-shaped clasp. It is unusual to find an oval button- more generally they are round. Dimensions: L 2cms x W 1.5cms x D 0.5cms. Such delicate, miniature works of art which were generated by skilled craftsmen in the Satsuma region on the southern island of Japan, were originally used to dress up kimono obi and are deemed to be highly collectible. This example is particularly auspicious as d. Epictions of dragons have long been used throughout the Japanese culture as symbols of strength, courage, and magic. This stunning and dainty button pin will no doubt be of great interest to collectors of Satsuma ware.

The country name “Japan”actually means “sun origin” and it is the source of the Western epithet “Land of the Rising Sun”. As these names themselves suggest the sun and it’s culture and blief are deeply connected, and the only god who create the universe and land in Japanese mythology is also “the goddess of the sun”[Amaterasu-omikami]. By these it is common to have a belief in sun and it is a poplular motif for KAKEJIKU as well. Displaying the sunrise KAKEJIKU means wishing for family luck and prosperity and the ocean in this picuture represent the world itself. People traditionally display sunrise KAKEJIKU at new year celebrations. The Japanese Hanging Scroll- and how to enjoy them? KAKEJIKU is traditionally displayed in TOKONOMA(an alcove in traditional Japanese room). They maily display for their guests and for carrying out the seasonal events. Pair of possibly late 19th Century?? Japanese reverse glass landscape paintings. Mount Fuji rises sharply in one of the backgrounds, surrounded by mountain cliff tops and seascapes (painted on board). It features Mother of pearl that is encrusted on the glittering rooftops and sailboats as they float by gently in the foreground. Featuring their original contemporary frames with some minor wear to one of them as you would expect with a vintage used item. A fantastic pair that will look fantastic within any setting. Pics make up description and condition so please view them all to ensure a positive purchasing experience.
