According to the writing of the box, this mounting is made by Nakao Sogon. He was a tea ceremony master and mounter of the mid-Edo period who was born in Kyoto. Painter of the mid-Edo period. Eldest son of Kano Naonobu. The second generation of the Kano family in Kobiki-cho. His common name was Ukon, and later he was called Yoboku. He studied painting under Naonobu and succeeded his family after his father’s death. He became Hogen in 1704 and Hoin in 1706. He participated in the creation of the wall painting of the Imperial Palace. After the death of Kano Tanyu, he became the supreme leader of the Edo Kano school. His painting style followed that of Kano Tanyu, but became more decorative in his own way. With signature’Tunenobu hitsu’ and seal’Tunenobu. Whole dimension: 22.6″ W x 74.6″ H / 57.6cm x 189.6cm.
