This is a stunning piece and is in full working order and in excellent condition. The jewellery box is shaped as a grand piano with a black lacquer finish. The lid has been hand-painted with a Japanese scenery. Within the scenery are inlaid pieces of mother of pearl, which is a lovely feature. The lid fastens with a metal clasp. The lid lift on a hinge to reveal a red, felt lined jewellery storage with a dancing ballerina. As she dances in front of a right angled mirror Brahm’s Lullaby is played. There is also a flat mirror for use. The ballerina has golden hair and a golden dress with a white, netted tutu. The sound produced is beautiful. The keys of the piano also lift to reveal a bracelet storage compartment, also red felted. The winder is underneath the box. It is marked: FOREIGN underneath.
