This is an early Showa c. 1930’s antique Japanese signed scroll with a hand painted design of Japanese. It is signed by the Japanese artist, Shousen (see picture 6). This scroll is approximately 68 1/2″ long by 21″ wide (174 x 53 cm). The actual artwork is 41″ high by 16″ wide (104 x 40.5 cm). Having been rolled up and stored for over 90 years, it remains in very good condition. Ll love it, I guarantee it. Pair Of Early 20th Century Japanese Satsuma Baluster Vases. A lovely pair of original antique vases. Great detail of scenery flowers and of a group of women sitting near a vessle of water. Vases are signed at the base but due to age have worn. Looks to be for Koshida in a gilt lined box. Koshida were a regarded maker and produced some quite exceptional work, their items now being much sought after by collectors. This pair dates around 1890 to 1900 the Meiji period. All items will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrapp and other packing materials. This richly decorated octagonal vase weighs an impressive 1.75kg and possess a distinct quality of considered proportion decoration of traditional colours of the Imari palette including a floral panels and vignettes with ornate and skilful gilding. Depicting attractive motifs with strong cobalt and blue inks with iron red and gilded highlights. No damage or repairs, there is a makers or kiln crease of originality featured within the images, accompanied with kiln dust surface features and crackle to the glazing to the base, a very fine piece.
