This is beautiful and Amazing pair of Antique Old Asian Japanese Meiji Lacquered wood Painting Frames (2), painted with ornate patterns of silver and gold, and depicting auspicious Japanese symbols such as leaves, bats, chrysanthemums and butterflies, among others. These frames likely date to the late Meiji – early Showa period and are each approximately 19 inches wide x 46 1/2 inches tall. The two frames are not an identical match, with subtle design variations, but complement each other perfectly. The interior dimensions of the frames are approximately 16 x 42 3/4 inches. Very good condition for age, with some minor shallow cracks, chips, scuffs and patina for decades of age and use please see photos.
