Ink and silk on paper. Overall length 212cm x 50cm, main paper 129cm x 36.5cm. This paper is generally good. There is some minor foxing and very minor staining. Mounting = Generally good. There are some small stains. Small stain on the back. Small stain on the box. Born in Saiki, Oita Prefecture. After graduating from the former Saiki Junior High School, he transferred to the Oita Technical Apprentice School (now Oita Technical High School). After graduating from the school, he moved to Tokyo in 1916, where he studied Western-style painting in earnest at the Kawabata School of Painting. From around 1919, he began to be active in the Central Art Exhibition, and in 1924, he was selected for the 5th Imperial Exhibition for the first time. Later, in 1930, he went to Paris via Moscow to study at the Academy of Fine Arts and continued to exhibit at the Salon d’Automne and other exhibitions, returning to Japan in 1932. From 1937 onward, he lived in Beppu and exhibited many landscapes and still life paintings with a moderate realistic expression at the Kofukai and Issuikai exhibitions.
