Kondo Torai’s eldest son. My name is Oe. Graduated from Kyoto City Painting College in 1919. While still a student, his work “Cloudy Day” was selected for the first time at the 10th Bunten in 1919. After graduating from the same school, he studied under Hiroyo Terasaki and later Momoho Hirafuku. In 1938, he formed Nihongain with Harue Mochizuki, Kotora Kawasaki, and others, and became a judge. He was evacuated to Kofu in 1944, and after that he refused to have any contact with the central art world. After the war, while serving as a professor at Yamanashi Gakuin University, he opened the Atagoyama Painting School and taught younger generations. He passed away in 1981 at the age of 91.
