This is a superb antique Oriental picture frame, a beautifully hand-painted quality item, dating at a guess to the early 1900s The border is stocky & wide with a lovely hand-gilded sight which is canted (angled) the border has many Chinese symbols of birds, flowers & trees, all the things you would see in the Chinese countryside are all symbolised here Frames such as this were made at the start of the 20th Century & were most probably made for the tourist market, you often find them with a touching photographic image of rural Asian life sch as the one I show in the latter photos There is a beautiful ruby lustre in the background on this frame & the back is a smart gloss ebonised black. Chinoiserie red lacquer lamp painted shade heron ravens Japanese Aesthetic

Antique chinoiserie lamp dating to early 20th century, with a nicely turned wood column and a red lacquered finish with gold, silver and black accents and featuring wildlife, flora and human figures. This is a tall, elegant and imposing lamp of excellent quality. The coolie lampshade is hand painted with an Oriental inspired design to compliment the base, and features a stork, a bird-of-paradise and ravens in a mountain landscape with rocks and a pine tree. The fabric lampshade is not antique but I have hand dyed it in a saffron yellow colour, then hand drawn in pencil and finally hand painted in pigment ink and acrylics. As with all of my lampshades this design is unique and will not be available in the same exact format again. It is see through (some of my other designs are opaque) so the painting can be seen through when lit, but note that some details will appear more prominent than others. The photos show the lampshade with light coming through but in the presence of other sources of light in the room, pics 1-8, but also with it being the only source of light in the dark, pics 9-10. The lamp base is 56 cm tall and the base is 18.5 cm in diameter. The lampshades measures 11.5 top diameter, 40.5 cm bottom diameter, and is 17 cm tall. The lamp base is in very good condition for age free of structural damage, cleaned and waxed to freshen up the chinoiserie design. There are a few small imperfections, chips to the raised design and flakes to the edge of the base typical of age wear see pics 11-12, some aging and crazing, but no significant damage. More photos can be provided on request. Wiring is modern, it comes with a switched earthed brass bulb holder holder, but safety will need to be ascertained by a qualified electrician prior to use. The lampshade is new. Can be used with up to 11 ESE bulbs or 10 W led bulbs. Led bulbs are advisable as hot bulbs could damage the painting in the long run. Photographed with 5 W led bulb. It will be sent in 2 boxes. The items I sell are either handmade and/or vintage/antique goods. Due to their nature and/or age, they are not perfect. All significant flaws are described. Original antique chinoiserie lamp dating to the 1920s, with typical painted and raised design against an ebonised background. Please read the whole description to asses condition. The lampshade is hand painted in an Oriental inspired design to compliment the base, and features an egret, a bird-of-paradise, Japanese acer and ravens in a mountain landscape with muted colours on a mustard yellow background. The lampshade is not antique but hand drawn and painted by Lacoona using pen, pigment ink and acrylics on cotton canvas. As with all of my lampshades this design is unique and will not be available in the same format again. The lampshade is semi-opaque, some of the detail can be seen through when lit, but most of the light is projected over the base. Would benefit from being used in a room where there are more sources of light so that it can be fully appreciated. The lamp base is 35 cm tall and the base is 11.5 cm in diameter. The lampshades measures 39 cm diameter. Comes with 2.5 m gold twisted fabric cable. The lamp base is in good antique condition with only superficial scratches and the chinoiserie design intact. Has been rewired using a period bakelite switched bulb holder, new twisted gold flex and modern 3 amp UK plug, but safety will need to be ascertained by a qualified electrician prior to use. The lampshade can be used with up to 11 ESE bulbs. Led bulbs are advisable as hot bulbs could damage the painting in the long run. Photographed with 5 W led bulb. The lampshade does have a flaw from fabrication, it was not constructed completely symmetrically when made and as a result it looks off centered when on the lamp base, from some angles more than others. Some of you may be able to cope with this and resolve to arrange in a such a way it looks good, while for others this could be very annoying indeed. The items I sell are either handmade and/or vintage/antique goods. Due to their nature and/or age, they are not perfect. All significant flaws are described. ANTIQUE JAPANESE lacquer Hand painted gilded ROOM DIVIDER c 1920

A very rare item to the market, we are pleased to present this wonderful Japanese Room Divider. The frame is Japanese Black lacquer. There is a wide border of beige pure silk with white blossom flowers. This has a narrow guard border of gold silk. The background to the screens is qilt paint. An extravagant scene of cranes then spreads across the panels. Everything is hand-painted and executed, the painted panels are on paper. The divider is bakced by plain blue paper. We feel these faults could be professionally restored if needed. There are some examples in the last pictures of some punctures and tears to the paper. This does not have a big impact on the beauty of the screen. There are areas where there has possibly been previous repair. There are minor puncture marks and scrapes.
