THIS LISTING IS FOR A SUPERB REVERSE GLASS PAINTING, PROBABLY JAPANESE IN ORIGIN AND DATING TO THE END OF THE 19TH CENTURY. THE DETAIL IS EXCELLENT WHICH DEPICTS A JAPANESE GIRL AND A LITTLE BOY IN A GARDEN SURROUNDED WITH PLANTS, FLOWERS, TREES AND BIRDS WITH A ROOM SETTING IN THE BACKGROUND. ALL IN ALL IN VERY GOOD ANTIQUE CONDITION BUT AS AN ANTIQUE IT WILL CARRY SCARS FROM THE PASSAGE OF TIME AND IS EXPECTED TO HAVE MARKS OR BLEMISHES. BUT I CAN SEE NOTHING OF OBVIOUS IMPORTANCE THAT WOULD DISTRACT FROM THE OVERALL APPEARANCE. THE PAINTING IS CONTAINED IN AN EBONISED FRAME WITH ROUNDED CORNERS AND IS MISSING A PEDIMENT THAT WOULD HAVE FITTED IN THE TOP EDGE, COMES WITH HANGING WIRE AT THE BACK.
