This painting is in Good condition. There are no repairs or stains in the canvas of the painting. The painting is of a river or stream flowing with trees on the sides and mountains in the background. The painting is signed in the bottom left corner by Mitsuzo Shimizu. The painting itself measures 24 wide by 20 tall. The painting appears to be in its original frame. The frame is in very good condition. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs in the wood of the frame. The frame has a brass plaque the reads – Shimizu. The frame measures approx. 33 1/2 wide by 29 1/2 tall. I took a lot of pictures to show you what you are receiving. Please look at the pictures as to the condition of the item. Antique Asian Japanese Meiji Ink Calligraphy Painting Shibahara Gisho
This is an exquisite Antique Asian Japanese Meiji Calligraphy Ink Painting on paper by Shibahara Gisho or in Kanji, (1885 – 1954), depicting an old rose blossom tree on a rocky mountain outcropping. This work is signed by the artist in the lower right and stamped with his signature red chop mark. This painting dates approximately to the year 1912, in the early Showa period. Approximately 16 3/8 x 21 1/4 inches including frame. Actual visible artwork is approximately 10 x 14 1/2 inches. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, Department of Painting in 1905. He studies under Takeuchi Seiho. He became an assistant to Miko in 1907, and later retired as a teacher at the painting vocational school while concurrently serving as a part-time teacher at the painting vocational school in 1930. This is an early Showa c. 1930’s antique Japanese signed scroll with a hand painted design of Japanese. It is signed by the Japanese artist, Shousen (see picture 6). This scroll is approximately 68 1/2″ long by 21″ wide (174 x 53 cm). The actual artwork is 41″ high by 16″ wide (104 x 40.5 cm). Having been rolled up and stored for over 90 years, it remains in very good condition. Ll love it, I guarantee it.
