Fine painting depicting group of monkeys. Since this paintings were part of screens made by the same artist.. Only two are signed (one signature for each screen) and one dated (originally pair of screens)Painted on paper canvass with ink. Size:174/64cm (68.5 / 25.2 inch) 50gr (0.1lb). Age: 19th century, dated 1884. Fine condition considering age and perhaps not so adequate storage since removal from the screen. Some minor abrasions, discoloration, patination, tears, frayed edges. Stunning Japanese painting By Sakakibara Antiques Fine Oriental Art 1900. Titled birds on tortishell-bamboo. Trained in Kyoto City University of Arts, his works were well exhibited in many galleries, exhibitions and art festivals during Meiji, Taisho and Showa period. The paper has fair amount of creases and the backing brocade has minor staines on the top, also missing one scroll handle, but overall no problem in the actual painting, reframe or re-mount would solve these problems. Vivid, beautiful hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration throughout – repeating vertical bands, with blooming Chrysanthemum flower motifs in the celled Cartouches. Gilt trim and accents. Domed top lids, with Onion Bud finials. Both signed on the undersides in red, by hand, with the same Japanese Kanji character. Antique, Japanese in origin from the Meiji period – late 19th/early 20th century. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS! 17.5″ tall with lids, 8″ diameter (across) each. Weigh about 10 lbs. Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos below. One is in pristine condition, with no issues at all. The other has an old repair at the jar lip, seen upon close inspection. Antique Japanese Hand Painted Satsuma Vase Signed Meiji Period. A beautiful Satsuma vase finely decorated with a hand-painted bridge crossing a flowing river, with a parade of four people on it, carrying flags. There is a majestic mountain in the background along with a Willow tree and a Pine tree. The rim is gold, with a stylised pattern beneath it. There are two square marking on one side with Japanese calligraphy on it. Gilt is inticately used throughout the piece to highlight details. Signed at the bottom with signature and Meiji mon. Colours include muted greens and blues, with iron red and yellow tones. Near perfect condition – no chips, cracks or restorations.
