An earthenware box, of footed cylindrical form. By the Kinkozan studio. 1868 – 1912, late 19th century. The body decorated with a series of Japanese Mons, each of a different style and incorporating flowers and birds. The ground of the vase filled with white enamelled flowers and thousands of hand applied gilt dots. The box stands on four integrated feet. The quality of the painting is amongst the best you will see on any Satsuma ware. Signed “Kinkozan Zo” with a calligraphy seal to the underside of the base. Due to the quality of this example, it is likely a studio example. One foot has been restored. 10.5cm in height. An earthenware vase, of twin-handled, pear shaped form. By the Kinkozan studio. 1868 – 1912, late 19th century. The body depicting twin scene panels, one with figures offering sacrifice to the deity Kannon and the other with villagers in rejoice around a Ochaya dwelling. The diaper borders filled with rich gilt patterning atop a bold cobalt blue ground. The vase fitted with a pair of ornate baroque-style scrollwork handles. Signed “Kinkozan Zo” in an embossed seal to the underside of the base. Excellent Condition, without any damage.
