An earthenware box, of footed cylindrical form. By the Kinkozan studio. 1868 – 1912, late 19th century. The body decorated with a series of Japanese Mons, each of a different style and incorporating flowers and birds. The ground of the vase filled with white enamelled flowers and thousands of hand applied gilt dots. The box stands on four integrated feet. The quality of the painting is amongst the best you will see on any Satsuma ware. Signed “Kinkozan Zo” with a calligraphy seal to the underside of the base. Due to the quality of this example, it is likely a studio example. One foot has been restored. 10.5cm in height.
