A Yasui Satsuma pottery bowl – Early 20th century. A lovely Satsuma bowl signed to the base with Shimazu mon and characters for Yasui. The bowl has a circular rim with a pie crust or scalloped pattern. The body is well decorated both internally and externally with a continuous frieze of Buddhist worthies and a scaly white dragon picked out in polychrome enamels and further gilt. There is a firing crack under the base not otherwise visible. 4 inches wide at rim, 1 ¾ inches high.
