A brief sketch of Kuniyoshi UTAGAWA, the founder of the Utagawa school, in the life of SASHU TSUKAHARA, SECYU (provinces of Sashu). “A Brief Map of the Kozu Family” is a series of 10 prints depicting the biography of Nichiren Shonin. This work is believed to depict Nichiren Shonin who was exiled to Tsukahara in Sado. It is unusual for Kuniyoshi to have such a simple depiction that he does not show his eccentric ways, stoically depicting the turbulent life of a great man. Snow that falls and piles up as if it covers everything. The appearance of the lonely fishing village conveys the severity of winter in the Sea of Japan. 22.2 × 34.6 cm.
